Riding Out the Recession

Despite all the worry about a looming recession, there’s still a lot of benefit to being in central Oklahoma. You probably remember that Forbes.com rated us the most recession-proof city a while back. Well, now that the economy has slid a little further, they’ve published a new list and apparently they still love us. OKC is ranked #2 best city to ride out the recession at Forbes.com, where they’re digging our low unemployment, stable housing, and strong energy sector. You can also see the list in slideshow form.

OKC Hits the Top 10 for Home Value Rebound

No big surprise to those of us who live it every day, but Forbes.com just released their Top 10 list of markets most likely to see a rise in home values. Maybe we made the list due to the fact that our market has stayed strong, and we’ve not seen average or median values decrease?

It’s easier to climb up when you don’t have to crawl out of the basement.

The List We Missed

Most times I love it when our beautiful city of Edmond makes the list, and I’m sometimes disappointed when we don’t. Today’s not one of those days. To my surprise, we didn’t make Forbes’ list of most expensive states to insure a home.

With the pre-conceived opinions many have, that our state suffers tornado damage every day of the year, I would imagine plenty of others out there will be just as surprised. Sometimes no news is good news.

Oklahoma City Economy – What Recession?

The big buzzword these days is ‘recession’ but I heard a term this morning that I like even better. On Jeff Click’s new blog, he shared the Forbes story that lists Oklahoma City as the #1 Recession-Proof city in America.

All the discussion about the Oklahoma City and Edmond real estate market should soon be put to rest in the minds of anyone that’s paying attention. There are just too many positive indicators to ignore. On the fence? Time to get off.
